In 2010, Beijing Capital International Airport completed 74 million passenger throughput, second only to Atlanta Airport in the United States, ranking second in the world; Shanghai Pudong Airport completed 3.228 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, ranking third in the world. The C919 large passenger aircraft project independently developed by China has completed its preliminary design and is about to enter the engineering development stage, with orders exceeding 100. With the introduction of China's 12th Five-Year Plan, industries such as aerospace will receive greater support from the state. The continuous expansion of market demand and the continued deepening of policy support have showcased the huge market of China's aerospace industry to the world.

At CIMT2011, exhibitors from the machine tool industry around the world showcased their strengths, targeting the large Chinese aerospace market.
Machine Tool Companies Show Their Skills
GF Machining Solutions from Switzerland has always focused on the aerospace industry, and its high-precision, high-complexity functional machine tools meet the general needs of aerospace industry customers. At this exhibition, GF Machining Solutions showcased a series of machine tools, demonstrating the processing of many aerospace parts, including titanium alloy impellers. Among them, FORM3000 is equipped with C-axis and A-axis on-site for 5-axis linkage processing of closed impellers, demonstrating solutions for aerospace engine processing. CUT200 uses CleanCut power supply and optimizes roughing and finishing strategies, resulting in almost zero workpiece alteration during processing, with no material or microstructure changes, greatly ensuring the safety of aviation parts and providing technical support for the vertical groove processing of compressor disks for aero-engines.
Italian machine tool manufacturer JOBS also showcased its composite material processing technology in the aerospace field. High-performance equipment including LINXCOMPACT, LINXDUO, JOMACH, TARKUS, and JOMAX can be used in the aerospace industry. Among them, the LINXCOMPACT high-efficiency vertical machining center with a dual-worktable and direct motor drive can be used for the processing of composite material coverings and structural parts, representing the most advanced technology for processing composite materials and new material parts. Patents including a high-precision drilling and expanding system with dynamic depth control, a built-in dust collection system, a DUO machine tool with linear motor drive, and a dual-axis spindle head with a built-in dust collection system and an automatic moving dust cover have been widely used in the aerospace field.
Tool Manufacturers Introduce New Products
In view of the fact that aerospace products widely use difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium alloys, heat-resistant alloys, high-strength steel, composite materials, and engineering ceramics, Sandvik Coromant, a Swedish metal cutting tool supplier, showcased its newly launched CoroPak 11.1 new products, including the new CoroMill Plura (金刚铣) end mill suitable for titanium alloy milling, the CoroDrill 452 drill bit for composite material processing, and the CoroDrill 452 drill bit series for carbon fiber and composite material processing. A series of new end mills in the CoroMill Plura family are specifically designed for aerospace parts.
Due to the high temperature resistance of aerospace industrial product parts, this puts stricter technical requirements on the processing of heat-resistant alloys. Walter, a giant in tool manufacturing, launched two new ISO turning tool groove types—NMS and NRS—specifically for processing heat-resistant alloys.
At the Seco Tools 2011 Spring Press Conference, Wang Po, the company's market director, introduced the JHP770 & JHP780 solid carbide end mills for efficient processing of titanium alloys and heat-resistant alloys; and the FeedMax C1 & C2 solid carbide drills for processing composite materials.
Changchao Electronics Research Institute always takes technological progress as the guide and quality assurance as the goal. It has an independent development team composed of multiple technical backbones from the non-destructive testing ultrasonic group. And maintain long-term cooperation and technical exchanges with well-known universities such as the Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Shanghai University of Applied Sciences. There is a doctoral studio at the Changchao Electronics Research Institute, which facilitates the combination of theory and experiment.
